Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022) Movie Review: Everything You Need to Know Before Watch

Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022) Movie Review Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022) was one of the most critically-acclaimed movies of the decade. It was directed by Wes Craven and starred Leonardo DiCaprio, Ethan Hawke, and Alexandra Daddario in lead roles. The plot revolves around five college students who decide to drive to the old family house in Texas, where they face a family of psychotic cannibals that have been murdering people and disposing of their bodies since the sixties.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre Movie Rating (out of 10)

4.5/10 Stars. The chainsaw scene at 0:51 was intense and creepy, though unfortunately, I had to mute out a few moments due to swearing. The acting was good and the plot made sense, but at times it felt unrealistic that someone would make friends with what is essentially a chain-saw-wielding serial killer. Seeing as how everyone except for one of our main characters is dead at the end, I give it 4 out of 10 stars; it could have been better with just a little more editing.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre Movie Story

The best horror movies are often based on true events, or have some key elements based on fact. Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a great example of that, as it’s loosely based on Ed Gein, who killed dozens of people from 1950 until his arrest in 1957 (he was also known for grave-robbing). Interestingly enough, Gein was arrested after two law enforcement officers noticed something amiss about his behavior and questioned him about it.

After confessing to being a serial killer, he led police to where he’d hidden human body parts. One of those parts happened to be a human head he’d skinned himself; other body parts were obtained by stealing bodies from nearby graveyards.

Leatherface (played by Myles Turner) is back and better than ever in 2022’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre. This time around, Leatherface has killed off his family and is hunting for more victims. If you’ve been a fan of Tobe Hooper’s original series then you’ll love what John Hawkes brings to another classic character in Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

The film begins with an old man being found dead in his home at night. Police believe he died from natural causes until they discover marks on his body that suggest otherwise. As they dig deeper into his death, they find Leatherface’s DNA was used to kill him. It’s up to them to stop Leatherface before it’s too late.

Why Every Horror Fan Should Watch Texas Chainsaw Massacre

If you are a horror fan then you likely enjoy all things related to scary movies. You could be someone who doesn’t like to watch anything that is horror-based, but even if you are one of those people then you still probably have a sense of what it means to be a fan of something that is just plain scary.

In any case, there is no doubt that scary movies continue to gain in popularity, especially when they start getting remade. One such movie was first released way back in 1974, and it was called The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. The movie has had multiple sequels since its release as well as an uninspired remake from some time ago, but now we have Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation which has recently been released on Netflix.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre Movie Review

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a deeply disturbing and engaging horror movie that will leave you thinking about it long after you see it. What makes it all that more unsettling is how close to reality some of it seems.

The real-life chainsaw murders by Ed Gein inspired many things in director Tobe Hooper’s masterpiece, including Leatherface and his mask made out of human skin. His brutality may be terrifying to behold, but his backstory really got me thinking about how we judge people based on their actions without knowing their past. If anything, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre should leave us with one thing: It doesn’t matter where you come from; what matters is where you go in life.

What Makes a Good Horror Film?

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, originally titled The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, is a 1974 American horror film. It was directed by Tobe Hooper and written by Hooper and Kim Henkel. Set in 1973 at an isolated farmhouse in Texas, it follows a group of friends who fall victim to a family of cannibals while on their way to visit an old homestead.

Though not considered one of the top 20 best horror movies as chosen by TIME magazine critics, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre has achieved a great deal of critical praise and is generally rated as one of the most influential horror films ever made. The film was also dubbed the most violent movie ever made after its release but there are now other movies with more graphic violence such as Hostel II and Saw II.

Why is Texas Chainsaw Massacre So Good?

Where do I begin? The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is a landmark film that goes beyond being just a scary movie. It’s one of those films that has changed how cinema works as an art form, and we owe it to director Tobe Hooper for creating such a masterpiece.

He kept things simple and captured all of horror fans’ emotions with minimal dialogue, great characters, and an incredible finale that leaves audiences jumping out of their seats every time. On top of all that, Tobe Hooper managed to make one hell of a scary chainsaw-wielding maniac in Leatherface; he is truly one of the greatest villains in horror movie history. This film is really good and you can’t go wrong watching it even if you aren’t usually into horror movies.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre Movie The Ending (Spoiler Alert!)

Unfortunately, Texas Chainsaw Massacre didn’t end well for anyone. While there were a couple of survivors—and they looked like they would be fine with time—the ending left you feeling more unsettled than satisfied.

It was a full two hours of buildup and then we only got to see less than five minutes of payoff. While Leatherface and his family ran away in defeat, it wasn’t clear if they had been caught or not and that made you feel uneasy about their fate for sure.

Final Thoughts

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is one of those horror movies that just can’t be missed. Just when you think it can’t get any scarier, it does. It keeps audiences on their toes and constantly wondering what will happen next. While some might feel like it’s a little too scary, others might enjoy seeing how many scares they can handle in one sitting.
