Before Welcoming Her Child, Halsey Experienced Three Miscarriages, And She Claims That “Abortion Saved My Life”

Halsey has shared their story of having many miscarriages in the open. The Without Me singer talked about their experience of losing three pregnancies and how it had strengthened their support for abortion rights in the US. In their words, “my abortion saved my life and made room for my kid to have his.”

A week after the Supreme Court overturned the historic Roe v. Wade decision, which had recognized the constitutional right to abortion in the United States for nearly 50 years, the singer—whose son Ender turns one this month—discussed their experiences in an opinion piece that was published in Vogue on July 1.

The singer, then 27 years old, revealed after the birth of her son Ender the previous year that she had suffered three miscarriages before turning 24. “One of my miscarriages required “aftercare,” which is a nice way of saying that I would need an abortion because my body couldn’t end the pregnancy fully on its own and I would be at risk of developing sepsis if no one intervened. I sobbed during this process. I was helpless and terrified for my own safety. She added, “I was desperate to abort the pregnancy since it was endangering my life.

“Many people have questioned me about whether or not my opinion on abortion has changed since I successfully carried a kid to term after years of trying. The answer is categorically no “Halsey penmanship I’ve never felt so strongly about something, in fact.

The National Library of Medicine states that the terms “spontaneous abortions,” “missed abortions,” and “incomplete abortions” may be used in billing or insurance claims when referring to miscarriages. The patient may be forced to wait longer, be given drugs to try to hasten the process, or have surgery with or without anesthesia if the unsuccessful pregnancy cannot be terminated naturally. The latter two techniques are frequently applied when successful pregnancies want to end their lives.

According to Halsey, “My abortion gave room for my son to live his life and spared mine.” “Everyone should have the freedom to decide if they will undergo this risky and life-changing experience and when and how they will do it. I’ll use one arm to cradle my son while using the other to fight as hard as I can.”

At a concert in Phoenix, Halsey vocally opposed the new policy, which caused some concertgoers to leave. Twitter user @stephxvg posted a video of Haley giving an ardent speech on abortion rights on stage. I don’t want any of you to ever be in a position where you won’t have access to that, she continued, looking at each and every one of you.

Halsey wasn’t the only well-known person to feel strongly about the Supreme Court’s important ruling, either. On their social media pages, celebrities like Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, Madonna, and others have also expressed their sadness and disappointment. “I worry about my daughters. For all the American women, I’m terrified. On her Instagram page, Madonna wrote, “I am just plain afraid.
